The GOP presidential field for 2024 has grown increasingly crowded, but one candidate that will not be joining the race is Glenn Youngkin – the current governor of Virginia.

Despite numerous calls from high-profile establishment donors and Fox News owner Rupert Murdoch to enter the race, Youngkin has stated he does not intend to do so at this time.

Thomas Peterffy, a billionaire who has previously donated to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ campaign, told Fox Business that he would be enthusiastic about supporting Youngkin if he chooses to enter the race.

“People I speak to are all favorably inclined towards him,” Peterffy said, “If he entered, I think there would be tremendous enthusiasm.”

Additionally, Rupert Murdoch is also reportedly hoping for a Youngkin run according to an article in the New York Times earlier this month.

It appears that Murdoch’s media empire was very friendly with Governor DeSantis in recent months prior to his campaign navigating through a rough patch.

Wilbur Ross, Trump’s former commerce secretary also hosted top donors and party leaders at his Hamptons mansion Friday with “a chance to listen to Youngkin talk about how he’s going to take over the Virginia legislature” according to an invitation sent out.

Despite these calls for a presidential run it appears as if donors will have look elsewhere as Governor Youngkin does not appear interested at this time.

In an interview with USA Today he said that while humbled by these calls for 2024 and a national role it’s something that he doesn’t plan on pursuing right now as he puts his focus on doing his job here in Virginia.

This shift of focus may reflect why his approval rating recently reached an all-time high of 57 percent according to a poll from Morning Consult.

This is due largely because of how focused his campaign was on culture war issues such as education which provides hope for Republicans in a state that has been trending blue over recent years.

It appears clear that despite numerous calls from prominent figures within both politics and business Glenn Youngkin intends on staying true and focusing solely on what matters most – being governor of Virginia.
