The ball is officially in the hands of Democrats.
Speaker McCarthy (R-CA) passed the debt ceiling package this week.
Now Democrats have to decide to vote it down and risk defaulting on our debt or passing the bill and leaving it up to Biden to veto.

This could be a problem in the Senate, as Joe Manchin has already expressed support for the bill.
He did not agree with everything, but he also stated that we simply cannot risk defaulting.
The fact that Biden’s new budget would added trillions to the debt while McCarthy’s reduces it by $5 trillion over the next decade also comes into play here.
After the bill passed, McCarthy stated, “Now he should sit down and negotiate. We are the only party to take fiscal action … that would lift the debt limit so we wouldn’t have economic damage.”
Senator Schumer (D-N.Y.) seems to think that he has enough support to block it.
Schumer said that McCarthy’s bill is “the Default On America Act — because that’s exactly what it is, DOA, dead on arrival.
“Our plan has always been the same: to avoid default, to pass a clean debt ceiling — no brinksmanship, no hostage-taking.
“Once that is done, there’ll be plenty of time to discuss as usual, in the budget process, where there should be cuts, where there should be tax increases.”
This has just become a staring contest, so now we get to see who blinks.
