Another day, another scandal.
That seems to be the theme for the FBI lately.
This time, however, some heads could truly roll.
Misleading
The FBI raided the U.S. Private Vaults store in Beverly Hills, CA.
The warrant was signed by U.S. Magistrate Judge Steve Kim.
The issue, however, is that the FBI seems to have misled the judge as well as disregarded restrictions that were put in place on the warrant.
If I am reading the report correctly, the FBI decided to raid 1,400 boxes with the intent of seizing all contents in any box that held more than $5,000 in goods and cash.
All told, roughly $86 million was seized.
Now there is a class-action lawsuit because the FBI had no cause.
Robert Frommer, who is representing nearly 400 box holders in the class-action lawsuit, stated, “The government did not know what was in those boxes, who owned them, or what, if anything, those people had done.
“That’s why the warrant application did not even attempt to argue there was probable cause to seize and forfeit box renters’ property.”
The FBI has returned $52 million, but this is far from over.
I have no idea what Christopher Wray is doing over there right now, but he is either letting agents go rogue or he thinks he is running the SS in Nazi Germany.
Either way, he needs to go.
