One of the top Democrats in the Senate has gotten some very bad news.
Senator Bob Casey (D-PA) has been diagnosed with cancer.
He broke the news this week.
Surgery Coming
Casey was positive in his outlook.
He stated, “Last month, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.
“While this news came as a shock, I can report that I have an excellent prognosis, as well as the benefit of exceptional medical care and the unwavering support of my family.”
He added, “In the coming months I will undergo surgery, after which I am expected to make a full recovery.
“I am confident that my recommended course of treatment will allow me to continue my service in the 118th Congress with minimal disruption.”
If his recovery becomes too overwhelming and Casey decides to step down, this would be a major issue for Democrats.
That seat would definitely be up to flip as long as Dr. Oz is not the candidate.
We will keep an eye on this in coming months as Casey progresses to see what he decides to do.
