Recently, a group of freaky female robbers dressed up in green body suits “terrorized two women inside a Times Square subway train” before making off with a small amount of loot. One was smart enough to turn herself in. Three more are in custody and police are still looking for the rest.
Green Goblins caught NY attention
The group of female “Green Goblin” subway train bandits weren’t thinking ahead and managed to attract a whole bunch of unwanted attention. The proper costume for committing assault and robbery is nondescript clothes which blend in with the crowd like camouflage. Not neon lime body suits.
As soon as the footage started getting nationwide attention, one of the assailants lawyered up and surrendered.
Mariam Issouf didn’t want to make things any worse than they already were and the 26-year-old deserves bonus points for rational thinking, even if it was after the fact. On Monday afternoon, October 10, Issouf surrendered to police with her lawyer in tow. She was promptly arrested and charged with her part in the Green Goblin robbery.

Back on October 2, the resident of Queens, New York, was part of a gang of several female thieves which “attacked two 19-year-old women and then robbed them of a cell phone and handbag.”
Police plastered the video all over the place, then social media made it go viral. “Some of the suspects had hoods and masks over their faces to conceal their identities,” footage shows, Not all of them.
The NYPD aren’t saying it but Ms. Issouf might have been ratted out by one of her friends. Police tracked down three members of the Green Goblin gang and announced their identities Friday.
All from Queensboro Houses
Emily Soto, age 34, was arrested and charged along with Ciante Alston and Dariana Peguero, both 26. Green goblins aren’t the only problem transit authorities have been coping with. Assault and robbery are two common crimes of many “committed on the NYC metro system in the past weeks.” Police note that they didn’t have to go to far to find the suspects.
All the ones they snagged so far live in the same block of housing, “NYCHA’s Queensboro Houses.” It doesn’t sound like a posh, upscale address.
Issouf’s attorney is already working hard on her behalf, working for leniency when it comes time for sentencing. Issouf may have put on that green goblin suit and gone on a terror rampage but she’s also a “victim.” It seems that “Issouf was the victim of a kidnapping back in 2001 when she was only 5 years old.”

It really was traumatic, not a simple custody dispute where she knew her abductor. “She was taken from her front yard by a 17-year-old perp who pleaded guilty to unlawful imprisonment in 2002 in exchange for long-term psychiatric care.”
Police are still searching for the remaining green goblins but they shouldn’t be hard to find. Not only are police checking transaction records for the shop where they all got matching body suits, they can match up phone records.
Those cell phone pings provide a detailed map of everyone’s movement. Goblins of a feather flock together. So do their devices.
