A gem trader in Sri Lanka made a rather amazing discovery in his backyard.
That discovery has now been taken to another country for authentication.
If it proves to be true, he could cash in for $100 million!

This particular area is known as being a significant source of high-quality gems.
It is not uncommon for expensive precious gems to be found here, just not like this.
While having a well dug, workers alerted the owner that they had found something.
When he checked it out, with a large cluster of sapphires.
After digging it up, the cluster weighed more than 510 kilograms.
Even if the cluster comes in at less value than expected, it will still be millions, a truly life-changing event for the man.
Sri Lanka was thriving as a gem exporter before the pandemic hit.
For instance, in 2020, the final year before the shutdown, Sri Lanka exported half a billion dollars in precious gems.
With this discovery, I would imagine it will provide Sri Lanka with a nice start to refire the industry.
