Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee have recently written to Fulton County District Attorney, Fani Willis, a Democrat prosecutor, in order to gain some clarity around her indictment of former President Donald Trump and his associates.
The letter inquires about the political motivation behind these indictments as well as other issues that are causing some concern.
Additionally, the committee is asking Willis to provide all documentation concerning her office’s “receipt and use of federal funds,” interactions with Department of Justice Special Counsel Jack Smith and any communications with federal agencies about her investigation into Trump by September 7.
Was Fulton County DA Fani Willis working with Jack Smith?
Was she communicating with the Executive Branch?
Were any federal funds used in the investigation of President Trump?

Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) signed this letter which questioned whether or not Willis was working with Smith or if she had been communicating with the Executive Branch.
The letter also drew attention to several questionable elements surrounding these indictments such as the timing which fell shortly after her new campaign fundraising website appeared online that highlighted her investigation into President Trump.
Furthermore, it was noted that the forewoman of this special grand jury seemed excited at the prospect of subpoenaing President Trump yet hours before this vote took place a list criminal charges against him were released publicly by Fulton County Superior Court’s Clerk.
Jordan also raised some concerns regarding Willis’ prosecution of Donald Trump including whether or not she was using state criminal law in order to regulate conduct from federal officers acting in their official capacities such as former president Donald Trump and Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
He further inquired if there had been any coordination between her office and Jack Smith during their investigation or if any federal funds had been used for it as well.
As many questions remain unanswered following this inquiry from Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee members, only time will tell what is really going on behind these indictments made by Fani Willis against Donald Trump and his allies.
