Democrats pulled a fast one.

Sadly, there were far too many Republicans that were willing participants in pulling the wool over our eyes.

The omnibus legislation that was just pushed through Congress is packed with earmarks, including a few that are going to make your head spin.

A Win?

Senator McConnell (R-KY) supported the bill, as did almost 20 Republican Senators.

The list was all the usual suspects, with the surprise addition of Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR).

As far as I am concerned, every Senator that voted to pass that legislation needs to be voted out, including Cotton.

McConnell was excited over the $858 billion in defense spending, but he failed to do a deep dive into the $772.5 billion in discretionary spending, which is just utterly ridiculous.

For instance, $750,000 is doing to the TransLatina@ group, which supports the defunding of police.

The group’s agenda states, “In an ideal world, we’d begin by abolishing the police force as it currently exists, however, this is not a realistic outcome through policy.

“We approach criminal justice work with an internal abolitionist lens, intending to critique, dismantle and rebuild our criminal justice system with community members in and out of jail and prison.”

We also got popped for more than $3 million for a Michelle Obama monument.

Republicans were not innocent in this, as a retiring Alabama Senator secured $666 million for earmarks in his state.

Tens of trillions in debt, and we are funding monuments, parks, and groups that want to defund the police.

The truly amusing aspect in all of this is that the Republican senators stated they supported his bill because they did not trust the House GOP to be able to legislate in the new term.

I am not sure if they realize this or not, but red ink means you are in debt and need to stop unnecessary spending.
