A dog unexpectedly roamed into a gorilla enclosure at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park in California. Now, videos of the dog in close proximity to the wild animals have taken social media by storm. Fortunately, the dog was able to leave the arena unscathed.

On Sunday, visitors to the zoo were puzzled to discover a canine inside the gorilla enclosure. The crowd of people quickly discovered out the dog was not supposed to be inside the primate’s habitat.

The canine slipped inside the San Diego Zoo Safari Park and somehow managed to enter into the gorilla environment, a Zoo Official stated.

A tourist caught video of a dog being chased throughout the enclosure by two silverback gorillas.

The individual capturing the video attempted to get the canine’s attention in order to guide it out of the enclosure while the animals stared each other down.

The stare-down lasts just a few seconds till the dog bolts in the opposite direction, chased after by the gorilla.

“Run run run!” a woman can be heard yelling as the gorilla aggressively advanced on the dog.

The canine made it to the borders of the enclosure, where it stood only mere feet away from the silverback. Luckily in spite of the threatening nature of the encounter the dog was unharmed.

The gorilla was ultimately moved by the zoo employees so that authorities from the San Diego County Humane Society might get in and securely extract the canine.

“It’s believed that the stray dog wandered into the park on his own and managed to get inside the habitat before being spotted,” the San Diego Humane Society said on Facebook.

The personnel showed that the gorilla was more than likely attempting to frighten the dog out of the enclosure, however, they were worried that the circumstance would have left hand.

Here’s what Officer Samantha Clark said:

“When I turned up at the gorilla enclosure, he did look very nervous and afraid.”

“The dog probably felt like he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. You can tell he really wanted help because he wandered over with his tail wagging.”

According to The Western Journal, “The dog was not injured and had no ID tag or microchip, but as a result of the escapade has been nicknamed “Mighty Joe Young” after the famous, fictional cinema ape.”
