You would think intelligence and military officials would have learned from 9/11.
It is far better to be too cautious than to simply ignore information that says an attack is coming.
That, however, seems to be what happened regarding the attack against Israel.
Same Old, Same Old
According to a CNN report, officials were told on September 28 that Hamas activity appeared to be ramping up.
Even with that warning, however, Secretary of State Blinken signed off on a massive aid package to Palestine for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) on October 3.
This was done against the objections by Republicans due to the belief that Hamas co-opts the organization to help facilitate its terrorist activities.
On October 5, the CIA also warned of increased HAMAS activity.
On October 6, American officials “circulated reporting from Israel indicating unusual activity by Hamas.”
On October 7, the attack took place at the Israel border where more than 1,000 people were killed, thousands more injured, and several hundred taken hostage, including Americans.
The finger-pointing has already begun, with some U.S. officials saying the miss was on Israel, not the United States.
If you ask me, there is more than enough blame to go around, especially when you look back at how information was missed prior to our 9/11 attack.
I would also tend to point the finger at our intelligence agencies when you consider our National Security Adviser, Jake Sullivan, was bragging about how quiet the Middle East is during the Atlantic Festival.
Every head of every intelligence agency should be fired for this.
