Jamie Lee Curtis recently made an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, where she ranted about the importance of climate change and declared that human industry is “f**king the world”.
The actress also addressed social media censorship in relation to the “LGBTQ” community and her adopted son Thomas who now identifies as a girl named Ruby.
At a panel discussion, Jamie Lee Curtis discussed the current summer heat wave, stating “It’s happening today! We are the hottest we’ve ever been in this country this week. I mean, talk about good timing. Seriously, we couldn’t be talking about something more important.”
She continued on to say that she does not view climate change as a partisan issue and that it’s essential for us to do something about it to prevent further damage from occurring: “I don’t care what side you’re on. It’s happening, and there are things we can do to ameliorate it and to try to stem the tide.”
In addition to addressing climate change issues, Jamie Lee Curtis was one of more than 250 entertainment industry personalities who recently demanded social media companies including Facebook, TikTok, and Twitter censor what they called “hate” and “disinformation” about the LGBTQ community.
This comes after her adopted son Thomas came out as transgender last year under the name Ruby, whom she honored with her Oscar statue by placing “they/them” pronouns in support of him during her acceptance speech.
A few months later, Curtis appeared on social media saying she would “protect trans kids”, likely referencing the debate over whether children should receive medical interventions.
Shortly afterwards she deleted an image from her home depicting a naked child placed inside a box of sorts, leaving many wondering why such an action was taken place.
The recent statements made by Jamie Lee Curtis have sparked conversation around both climate change awareness as well as social media censorship in regard to certain topics such as those involving transgender rights.
