Not long ago, former President Donald Trump was charged with mishandling confidential material.

He appeared in a court in Miami and as his motorcade left the courthouse a 61-year-old man named Dominic Santana stepped forward wearing a prison uniform carrying a placard that said “lock him up”.

He was quickly apprehended by police and security as the motorcade continued to make its way without stopping.

Many questions have arisen concerning this incident.

What could be the motive behind this act? How does this reflect on our current political climate?

According to The Daily Mail, Santana expressed his deep hatred for Trump in an interview following his arrest, calling him “a con artist” who had “got away with it” when he became president.

The YouTube video showed Santana making his way through the crowd to stand alone before being taken off to the side of the road. Police and security ran alongside the vehicles to keep back onlookers and photographers who were lining the route, but they didn’t stop or interfere with anyone along their path.

It appears then that Santana’s goal was simply to get close enough for someone to see his sign which reads “lock him up” during Trump’s departure from court rather than harm any members of his entourage or cause any physical commotion.

From what transpired we can deduce that there is still much unrest surrounding Donald Trump even after leaving office.

This is evident by the large portion of people seen depicting their support for Trump outside of court during proceedings as well as those voicing their dissatisfaction at not being able to hold him accountable due to federal laws protecting former presidents from criminal prosecution.
