In a move to refocus his bid for the Republican nomination for president, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has announced that more than a third of his campaign staff will be leaving their positions.

The decision comes as part of an effort to regain ground in the primary race and ensure financial security for the remainder of the campaign.

Federal filings from June reveal that the DeSantis campaign had over 90 individuals on staff during that time.

However, despite successful fundraising efforts in Quarter 2 with $20 million raised, much of this money has already been spent with some donors reaching their contribution limit.

In order to control costs better, event planning positions have been cut and senior advisers Dave Abrams and Tucker Obenshain have departed recently.

Generra Peck, campaign manager for DeSantis said: “We have taken additional, aggresive steps to streamline operations and put Ron DeSantis in the strongest position to win this primary and defeat Joe Biden”.

Furthermore, Carl Sceusa has been appointed chief financial officer who will monitor spending closely alongside his role as chief technology officer.

As well as reorganizing staffing levels across departments, changes have also been made at senior level within the campaign team.

Ethan Eilon is now deputy campaign manager while Cody Hall from Georgia Governor Brian Kemp’s office joins as senior communications advisor alongside Andrew Romeo who was previously spokesperson but is now communications director.

It is hoped these changes will help support continued momentum towards Super Tuesday on March 5th 2024 which offers up to 58 delegates should one candidate win most votes cast across Tennessee’s GOP primary election.
