There is a Twitter video going around right now that is just a little bit messed up, to say the least.
Guards are watching a feed of a fight in a pod, laughing and commenting.
At first, I thought the fight was in real time, but it turns out they were just reviewing the tape to show another guard.
It does make you wonder, however, what was going on when this beating was taking place.
Disturbing…
The beating took place at the Essex County Correctional Facility.
The inmate that was beaten has been identified as Jayshawn Boyd, 22.
He was doing nothing but standing in the common area when seven other inmates brutally attacked him.
They used everything at their disposal, including a microwave oven.
The video is below, but you will probably have to click on it and to Twitter to watch it…

My understanding of how those pods work is that the prisoners are by themselves for most of the day, with a guards popping in, but they are always supposed to be under surveillance just in case something like that happens.
So, where they heck were the guards when that kid was taking that beatdown?
The boy miraculously survived but obviously has permanent damage and no short-term memory.
His family is now suing the prison.
