If you are the president, when there are events such as happened in Nashville, you need to step up in the moment.
It is not the time to be political.
And it surely is not the time to crack jokes.
However, that is exactly what Joe Biden did.
I Like Ice Cream
This was Biden’s first appearance after the shooting, and he wanted to crack jokes.
Biden walked on stage and stated, “My name is Joe Biden. I’m Dr. Jill Biden’s husband.
“I eat Jeni’s ice cream — chocolate chip.
“I came down because I heard there was chocolate chip ice cream.
“By the way, I have a whole refrigerator full upstairs.
“You think I’m kidding? I’m not.”
He sounded like a simpleton, not the president of the United States.
And by the way, Joe, you have used that stupid line a hundred times and it falls flat every time.

Christie, as you may have noticed, is doing the rounds again in hoping to take Trump on in the election.
He has a snowball’s chance in hell of succeeding, but he is a great debater and fearless, so it will be interesting to see him go after Trump, at least for as long as he is able to hang in there.
