It would appear that our archenemy inside the GOP, Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY), has a bit of a vengeful streak in him.
We all wondered what would happen to Senator Rick Scott (R-FL) after he challenged McConnell for leadership.
Well, now we know…
Out of Here
Scott has been removed from a key committee position and he is not very happy about it.
Additionally, one of his supporters to change leadership, Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), has been removed.
Both were sitting on the Senate Commerce Committee, but now both have been removed due to the new Democrat majority.
Committees reflect the majority, so now one Republican must be removed from each committee to make way for the added Democrat seat.
Normally, these removals are done based on how the Senators rank their committee assignments, but Scott clearly did not want to lose this seat.
He stated, “I represent the third-biggest state in the country.
“What they told me today at lunch is the way the rules work, McConnell gets to pick.”
“So guess who [were] kicked off? Mike Lee and me.”
Senator Johnson (R-WI) is also no longer on the committee, making Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) the new ranking member.
