Joe Biden appears to be looking for a scapegoat.
The problem, however, is that Joe Biden needs the Democrats to hold the Senate so he can have his scapegoat.
That person would be Janet Yellen, the Secretary of the Treasury.
Her Fault
Biden needs someone to blame this economy on.
Simply by firing someone, it looks like he is doing something.
The reason that Yellen is the ideal scapegoat is because of how openly she was that the economic issues were going to be transitory.
Yellen later admitted that she was wrong on the matter, so Biden can say he was taking his lead from what Yellen was saying.
There may be another open spot soon as well, with rumors now flying that Bryan Deese, the director of the National Economic Council possibly getting ready to leave.
There is speculation that he may leave after the new year, but he is already saying the rumors are just that, rumors.
But, as we have seen many times in this business, that denial is worthless.
Going back to Yellen, if Democrats lose the Senate, I think we can expect her to remain in place.
It will be very challenging for Biden to get anyone confirmed at that point, as the GOP will look to make his last two years absolutely miserable.
