I have been waiting for this to happen since Karine Jean-Pierre was named White House Press Secretary.
During KJP’s first press conference, it was quite apparent she was in over her head.
Soon after, department heads started to show up to give their briefs.
This happens from time to time in every administration, especially when a major story is breaking, but this has turned into a regular thing with KJP.
Taking Her Job
This week, when White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby was confronted on the issue, I thought he would break down and cry at the podium.
Cameroonian journalist Simon Ateba landed the jab.
He asked Kirby, “Sometimes you act like the second press secretary.”
This question was not out of line, as we have seen more than one media member pose this on social media and it is apparently a question that gets asked quite often privately among the pool writers.
Ateba continued, “Tell us exactly what your job is.
“What type of questions should we ask you?
“The reason I’m asking is because almost everywhere I go, I have black people telling me that the reason you’re at the White House is to undermine the first female [black] press secretary.”
Kirby was stunned by the question, and KJP was seething on the sidelines…
Ateba has had confrontations with this administration before, as well as directly with Kirby.
My guess is that it will be some time before he gets called on again.
