When Donald Trump left office, he took cases of documents meant for the National Archives.
When the initial story broke, it was revealed that most of the records taken were believed to be personal notes and from other leaders that Trump thought were personal, but they were federal property.
Roughly 15 cases were returned, and he has been cooperating with the DOJ since.
Even so, the FBI tore through his home on Monday while Trump was in New York, including breaking into the former president’s safe.
Sneaky Move
The fact that the DOJ waited until Trump was not home to conduct this raid stinks.
It is also probably not a coincidence that the raid took place while the ink was still wet on a story of published photos of documents being tossed into White House toilets during the waning days of the Trump administration.
After the raid, Trump stated, “Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before.
“After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate.”
According to Eric Trump, the raid was conducted to see if there were still documents that belonged to the National Archives in Trump’s possession.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy was livid after the news broke, stating, “Attorney General (Merrick) Garland: preserve your documents and clear your calendar.
“I’ve seen enough.
“The Department of Justice has reached an intolerable state of weaponized politicization.
“When Republicans take back the House, we will conduct immediate oversight of this department, follow the facts, and leave no stone unturned.”
The White House declined any prior knowledge of the raid, but I doubt anyone believes that to be the case.
Merrick Garland has completely weaponized the DOJ against conservatives during this administration and he will pay for that soon enough.
All I know is if they came up empty on this raid, they probably just put Trump back in the White House.
