Tech projects have been streaming in for President Donald Trump since the end of his first term, and now his social media venture plans to present a Netflix alternative to compete in the streaming wars.
The Trump Media and Technology Group intends to supply “non-woke” entertainment using TMTG+, a new rival to Netflix, Disney+, as well as Hulu, according to TMTG’s company overview. The company posted two work offerings for TMTG+ on Wednesday, assuring the streaming solution “will be the residence for a wide array of non-scripted, scripted, and initial content.”
“Trump Media & Technology Group’s Streaming Video On Demand service will be a ‘Big Tent’ platform offering broad-based entertainment rooted in free speech,” the job offers read. “In addition to the Social Media platform Truth Social, our SVOD platform TMTG+ will be the home for a wide variety of non-scripted, scripted, and original content.”
TMTG is seeking to employ a content acquisition professional,, that will supervise licensing content for TMTG+, as well as a content development manager, that will create original unscripted material for the streaming service.
In the companies ‘vision’ they lay out,
“TMTG aspires to create a media powerhouse to rival the liberal media consortium and fight back against the “Big Tech” companies of Silicon Valley, who have used their unilateral power to silence opposing voices in America. In January 2021, “Big Tech” (Facebook, Twitter, and others) began to forcibly silence President Donald J. Trump and many other conservative voices. This is unacceptable. If Big Tech can censor the President of the United States, then they can censor anyone. To counter this liberal bias and dangerous exercise of tech monopoly censorship, Donald J. Trump and TMTG intend to create a media and technology company rooted in social media, digital streaming, information technology infrastructure, and more. In the year 2021, the media pendulum has sung dangerously far to the left. TMTG intends to even the playing field.”
Trump created the social networking platform Truth Social through TMTG as a conservative alternative to Twitter, which banned him in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 riot. The platform saw approximately 6 million visits in its first week after its February launch, yet it endured a huge dip in signups in subsequent months due to technological issues. Its waitlist was finally cleared in April.
The system has been met external difficulties also. Joe Biden’s Disinformation Administration Board is “a straight attack” on the system, TMTG’s chief executive officer said on May 1.
TMTG has not yet reacted to the Washington Supervisor’s request for remark.
