Even at the height of the immigration surge during the Donald Trump years, there were less than 300 migrants killed while trying to cross the border.
During Joe Biden’s first fiscal year in office, that total soared to 557.
It would have been higher, but Biden was only in office for the last 8+ months of the fiscal year.
This fiscal year, there are already 748 deaths, a total that climbs just about every day.
Blood on His Hands
One of the reasons this toll was lower before Biden was because even if you got over the border, you were not likely to stay.
Biden changed that, so people are willing to take bigger risks for the reward.
The 557 from Fiscal Year 2021 was a record, but that will be shattered this year.
CBP would not blame Biden, instead blaming human traffickers for the problem.
The agency stated, “Smuggling organizations are abandoning migrants in remote and dangerous areas, leading to a rise in the number of rescues but also tragically a rise in the number of deaths.
“The terrain along the border is extreme, the summer heat is severe, and the miles of desert migrants must hike after crossing the border in many areas are unforgiving.”
It is true that human traffickers could care less about their cargo once they get paid, but that cargo is who is handing over the money.
Maybe if Joe Biden had more control over the border, those people would not be willing to put their lives in the hands of these heartless human traffickers.
We must ask why people are willing to pay to come here during harsh conditions and impossible routes.
When you have that answer, you have the problem, and that answer is Joe Biden’s border policies.
