A 40 year old man child decided to attempt to burn his parents’ house down after they told him he needed to move out on his own, according to police.

Juan Saucedo, 40, has been arrested after attempting to burn down his parents’ home in the 800 block of 26th Street in Ogden, Utah, by starting a fire in their basement.

Officers had already been at the home just 40 minutes prior to the fire, attempting to deal with this 40 year old man child who claimed he was suicidal after his parents informed him that he had to move out.

When they were first on the scene, Juan stated that he wanted to kill himself, and claimed that he was going to pour gasoline everywhere and then light the house on fire. While they were there, officers tried several times to convince Juan to open the door so that they could get him the help he needed.

Despite their best efforts, he refused to open the door. Police then left him in the care of his brother, according to the officer’s statement on the incident.

Court records indicate that police arrived back on the scene just 40 minutes later for a reported structure fire. While en route to the location, dispatch informed the officers that Juan was fleeing the scene in a white passenger vehicle.

According to the officer, when they approached 26th and Monroe Blvd, they observed a white car turning north, being followed by another officer who confirmed that it was the suspect’s vehicle.

Of course, the 40 year old man child wasn’t just going to give up there. Instead, he decided to make things much worse for himself.

The officers were led on a short chase, which ended when Juan returned to his parents’ house and parked in the driveway behind the home.

When officers approached him, Juan had a knife with a red handle in his right hand, and refused to yield to commands to stop and to drop the weapon.

The incident ended with Juan being tased and placed into handcuffs. He was then transported to McKay-Dee Hospital, where he was cleared to be transported to the Weber County Jail.

Juan has been charged with aggravated assault, failure to stop at the command of a law enforcement officer and failure to respond to officers signal to stop, and is being held on a $26,980 bond.

Court documents show that an on scene investigation confirmed that Juan had poured gasoline in his parents’ basement and started a small fire.
