Woman Taking Selfie Atop Her Car

Woman Snaps Selfie Atop Car Sinking into Frozen River [VIDEO]

In this day and age of wannabe viral stars, apparently, we now have a woman snapping a selfie atop a car sinking into a frozen river…

Nowadays, we see selfies everywhere. We see selfies at family gatherings, we see selfies at tourist stops, and we definitely see selfies in the mirror.

But what of selfies on top of things? Well, we see those things too.

We have seen a selfie atop a mountain, a selfie atop of a house, and even a selfie atop the moon. But it definitely takes the cake to see a selfie atop a sinking car!

This leads us to a bizarre story out of Canada, where a woman drove into a frozen river and decided to take a selfie atop her sinking car while she was in the process of being rescued! The woman actually had the cojones to pull a stunt where she scrambled on top of her sinking car and snapped a selfie before the car was completely submerged in the water.

This was a very odd incident to say the least, and it happened in the Canadian city of Manotick on a Sunday afternoon. That is when residents spotted a yellow sedan that was speeding on the completely frozen Rideau River at speeds of at least 40 miles per hour or more.

Well, what was already a wild stunt took an even stranger turn when the driver of the vehicle stopped on the ice, and the weight was too much for the ice to bear and it quickly cracked, leading to an impromptu rescue operation by worried witnesses who were concerned for the safety of the driver.

“I’ve been around water long enough to know if things go bad, it can get worse quickly,” said resident Zachary King, who promptly got into his kayak and paddled to where the woman in the car was situated.

Luckily, the timing of the Good Samaritan was good because they got to the woman in her car just before it completely sunk into the water.

However, to say the group was taken aback by the woman’s behavior would be an understatement. She had some staggering nonchalance during this daring rescue operation and this, folks, is when she took the selfie atop her drenched car before she boarded the kayak!

It wasn’t long before the rescuers asked her why she drove her car into the frozen river, and they were even further taken aback when she said, “Oh, just having fun. I’d totally do that again.”

Luckily, the woman did not sustain any injuries from her bizarre misadventure, but Canadian mounties did charge her with unsafe operation of a motor vehicle.

Of course, the Mounties themselves showed off a photo of this woman’s submerged car, but it wasn’t just to seek attention. Instead, the police were marveling at the “amazing job” that the residents had done “saving the driver by using their kayak and quick safe thinking.” The police also took the opportunity to use this as a teachable moment for others, saying that “no ice is safe ice.”

Sadly, it would appear that the selfie that the woman took atop the car has yet to surface, but no matter, because we do have a pretty good video of her escapade for sure:
