A senseless police beating in Memphis, Tennessee, is rightfully producing anger and outrage nationwide. That anger needs to be directed in the proper direction. The so called “officers” who murdered Tyre Nichols have no justification for what they did. It was wrong and they are violent criminals who deserve the full penalty of law. The Memphis Police Department needs to answer for how their internal culture allowed this heinous crime to happen. Wherever their system broke down needs to be corrected, immediately. This doesn’t mean that law enforcement officers in general deserve to be labeled as “the enemy.”
Savage beating sparks protest
The fatal beating was as savage as advertised. Video released Friday was met with nationwide protest. Despite fears of violence in response, so far the protests have been peaceful. Hopefully, they will stay that way. This is one incident which deserves protest. Even conservatives are horrified at the out of control behavior captured on video. That was not “policing” and had nothing to do with valid enforcement of law. It also has a lot of people wondering if there might be more behind it.
The possibility can’t be ruled out that those men were blackmailed or coerced into taking an action calculated to spark violent riots. That’s the only possible cause which seems to make any sense at all. Putting it up beside the George Floyd incident shows a lot of similarities.
The big difference this time is that the race card was left out of the deck. All five of the criminals involved in the merciless and seemingly unprovoked beating of Tyre Nichols were Black. That puts the target of the entire nation’s anger squarely on “cops.”
When you see black American police officers, with body cams, doing this to another black American, you get an idea about what US military have done in #Iraq, #Afghanistan and other countries around the world.#TyreNichols #TyreNicholsVideo #MemphisPolice pic.twitter.com/OVjE1V1Eb4

Not just these five inhuman sadists, or even the Memphis Police Department. The liberals behind the scenes are turning everyone’s anger on law enforcement as an institution. They’ve been trying to defund the cops out of existence and that backfired with spiking crime and fell out of favor. It could be that the deep state decided to take a different approach.
On Friday, officials released four separate videos. One was from a traffic camera and the rest from officers’ body cameras. What it shows has appropriately “prompted outrage and calls for justice from protesters and politicians alike.”
When you’re wrong, you’re wrong. These particular uniformed gorillas were beyond wrong to the point of beyond reason. Observers of the beating are left nearly speechless. The victim’s mother, RowVaughn Wells, is devastated. Even so, she “urged supporters to protest peacefully.” More violence won’t bring Tyre back and will only make things worse for everyone.
Just the facts
In the days leading up to the release, everyone prepared for the worst. Georgia’s governor called out the National Guard and New York City braced for expected riots. In Memphis, when films of the violent beating were released, protesters “marched down an interstate south of the city’s downtown area, blocking traffic and maintaining nonviolent demonstrations.”
As Ms. Wells implores, “I don’t want us burning up our city, tearing up the streets, because that’s not what my son stood for. If you guys are here for me and Tyre, then you will protest peacefully. You can get your point across but we don’t need to tear up our cities, people, because we do have to live in them.”
All five “officers” involved in the beating have been charged with murder but only second degree. Other charges were issued as well, including “aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, two counts of official misconduct and official oppression.”
Before the Memphis Police Dept. releases the video of 5 MPD officers murdering #TyreNichols during a routine traffic stop, and that heinous video inevitably goes viral, I want to amplify THIS video of Tyre LIVING his best life. 🛹👑🙏🏿😔✊🏿 #JusticeForTyreNichols

Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr. and Justin Smith were all “fired for misconduct last week.” They were taken into custody the moment the grand jury came back with a decision on Thursday. Four of the five posted bond by Friday and are safely away from other prisoners.
They pulled Nichols over for “alleged reckless driving” on January 7. He suffered for three days before succumbing to his brutal injuries. The beating lasted for a full three minutes as the cops took turns using him for a punching bag. While he was handcuffed.
Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis isn’t making excuses. She confirms the “administrative investigation by the department concluded the officers violated its policies by using excessive force and failing their duties to intervene and render aid.“
