The GOP field has finally shrunk.
One of the less-than-one-percenters has finally called it quits.
William Hurd, a Texas Republican, has suspended his campaign.
He’s Done
When Hurd dropped out, he announced that he was going to put his support behind Nikki Haley.
Drawing 0.1 percent of the vote, I am not sure exactly what that will get her.
He stated, “Our nation deserves a leader who can unite us and navigate the complex challenges we face, particularly when it comes to our national security.
“I believe Ambassador Nikki Haley is the best person in this race to do that.”
Haley was gracious in accepting his support, but that endorsement is not likely to get her any bump in the polls.
While Haley is in the top four, she is well behind DeSantis and miles behind Trump.
I read an article today that proposed Haley dropping and making a deal with DeSantis that sounded pretty interesting.
If DeSantis could get her to drop before the primary voting started and get her to throw her support behind him, they could announce their ticket.
That would probably get the rest of the candidates except for Ramaswamy to drop and back them.
I think Ramaswamy will hang as long as possible to try to help Trump, then throw his support behind Trump when he does drop out.
The dude is a grifter and I don’t know what his end game is, but I hope Trump sees through it and does not make him a part of his administration in any way.
