Andrew Warren just could not go away quietly.
The activist Florida prosecutor filed a lawsuit against Ron DeSantis.
Warren, as you may recall, was recently suspended for issuing blanket amnesty on abortion and transgender cases.
Get Out
I can agree that every case should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Some people are nefarious while others truly deserve a second chance.
The problem is that Warren was taking a political hot potato and making a stand.
He publicly promised to give blanket immunity to transgender transition and abortion cases.
That was all it took for DeSantis to suspend him.
After the Warren lawsuit was announced, DeSantis’ office responded, “It’s not surprising Warren, who was suspended for refusing to follow the law, would file a legally baseless lawsuit challenging his suspension.
“We look forward to responding in court.”
Warren’s attorney fired back, “The First Amendment protects the right of elected officials to speak out on matters of public controversy, and in fact, it does so because it’s so important that the voters who choose these elected officials know where they stand on these issues.”
If the court has integrity, Warren loses this case.
But, if we get another activist judge on the case, well, this creates a massive problem for conservative governors that have liberal prosecutors that want to rewrite the law books.
