Breaking News: Active Shooter, Strong Police Presence [Video]

Boulder police are responding to An active shooter called in from a King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado has prompted a heavy police response. Here is the live video but the story is Developing now. Refresh for periodic updates.

Update: Police are pushing the crowd back and the livestream is ending.

Reports claim a Gold Rav Four which police describe as a suspect vehicle was driven up to the doors and almost “wedged” up against the building. There are also reports of people who had been lying on the ground but it isn’t clear if they were victims or just avoiding gunfire.

The police are ready to arrest the videographer for his safety. It appears that something big is about to happen.

The videographer notes that one man was removed from the building in handcuffs, dressed only in his underwear. Police still seem to be on alert for something inside the building, possibly a bomb. There are no confirmed reports of injuries at this time.

Police continue bringing people out of the building which indicates they may have the situation under control but they just warned the videographer to stay behind the car again.

The videographer is currently backing down after antagonizing police by refusing to back up for safety reasons. He decided to play it safe behind some parked cars. There are unconfirmed reports of two men in custody but it is not sure if either of those is the suspected shooter and police are continuing to actively search.

Local police are warning Boulder, Colorado residents to avoid the area around the King Soopers on Table Mesa road. At around 2:50 p.m. local time, they tweeted. “Active Shooter at the King Soopers on Table Mesa. AVOID THE AREA. PIO is en-route.”

Entire building surrounded

Earlier, video showed police “calling out to a suspect over a megaphone.” The Boulder Police Department officer demanded, “the entire building is surrounded. I need you to surrender now.” First responders “gathered outside the supermarket, with multiple ambulances standing by in the parking lot. At least two medical helicopters were on the scene.”

Armored police vehicles were spotted from the air as the “tactical team made its way to the store’s entrance and SWAT team members positioned themselves around the building.” According to one witness, they “had just left the store after checking out and heard what sounded like fireworks.” The witness says “a guy was wearing tactical gear carrying an “AR-15 style weapon.”
