Everybody loves a nice, calming bath, and a soothing bath bomb is just a bonus. But these YouTube stars decided to take it one step further, making a 2,000lb bath bomb and dropping it into a pool.
Bath bombs have become increasingly popular in recent years. Some are lightly scented, some are crazy colors or full of glitter, some have prizes inside, and some are meant to calm or rejuvenate you. Crafty people have even discovered how to make their own.
Here’s a video on how to make your own, if you’re interested:
A group of friends became overnight stars after deciding to undertake a massive experiment: will a 2,000lb homemade bath bomb have the same effect in the swimming pool that a normal bath bomb has in the tub? Would the pool become a massive multi-colored spa?
Of course, the only way to find out would be to actually do it.
The process to create this 2,000lb bath bomb took several days. First, they created a fiberglass mold to allow the ingredients to dry in the form of a ball.
Next, they combined their ingredients using a cement mixer, because it would have been quite difficult to mix together 50 pound bags of ingredients by hand. The recipe they used was one part corn starch, one part citric acid, two parts baking soda, and black dye.
After the process was complete, the group had a 2,000lb bath bomb ready to deploy. Then they realized they had a problem: how to get it out of the mold? The group decided to cut the shell and the support off, tip the back end, and just let the ball roll into the pool.
They all gathered around the pool as one of the guys pushed it in, causing a massive tidal wave.
